A THREE-year-old boy lost his life after the road accident in Kumasi which involved the Mercedes Benz of actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as ‘Lilwin’, and two other cars on Saturday.
Fresh reports emerging indicate that the boy, identified as Richard Tawiah Ampomah and his father (name not known) sustained life-threatening injuries when the cars collided.
The boy and his father, who were in a Hyundai Santa Fe, were reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital at Anwiam for immediate treatment.
At the hospital, Richard’s condition kept deteriorating so he and his father were transferred to the Accident and Emergency Centre at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for further treatment.
Unfortunately, little Richard gave up the ghost at KATH, whilst his father, whose condition has since not improved, was admitted at the hospital, where he has been receiving treatment since Saturday.
Grandmother of the deceased, Victoria Nketiah, aka Abrafi, who is in her late 50s, disclosed the above information in a radio interview with Ali Baba of Angel FM in Kumasi.
According to the distraught woman, the boy was seated in the front seat while his father was behind the wheels during the crash, adding that the media has kept mute over the death of his grandson.
“The accident happened on Saturday morning and my grandson and his father were rushed to the hospital for treatment after they had suffered life-threatening injuries after the head-on collision.
“The father and son were first taken to a nearby hospital at Anwiam and they were later on referred to KATH, where Richard died the same Saturday. His father is still on admission at KATH.
“Sadly, even though we have lost a human being, a three-year-old boy, nobody is talking about it. The boy’s mother has been crying since Saturday and she is even sick now,” Abrafi lamented.
She disclosed that the body of the boy has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy, adding that the police visited the boy’s father in hospital on Monday as part of their investigations.
It would be recalled that Lilwin’s Mercedes Benz was involved in a road accident in front of the Grace Baptist Church at Amakom in Kumasi last Saturday.
Incidentally, Lilwin was supposed to premiere his latest movie, titled ‘A Country Called Ghana’, which featured Ghanaian and Nigerian movie stars, in Kumasi at KNUST same day.
Lilwin suffered leg and facial injuries in the accident, and was seen in a viral video being carried in a waiting vehicle to the hospital for treatment.
Initially, there were reports that even though all the cars involved in the head-on collision were damaged, there were no deaths. But that information proved to be a hoax as it emerged that a three-year-old boy died later at the hospital.
Meanwhile, in another video, a lady who claimed her Toyota Vitz was also hit by Lilwin’s car, alleged that the actor was speeding at the time of the accident.
