Buipewura Jinapor II is warning youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region to desist from using his name in peddling lies about the Electoral Commission (EC).
The warning comes after an activist of the NDC, Mohammed Astro Damongo, wrote on Facebook that the Buipewura Jinapor II had cautioned the EC and its Chairperson, Jean Mensa, “to desist from beating war drums by their attempts to compile an unlawful new voters register.”
The Buipewura Jinapor immediately responded to Astro’s post on Facebook, asking him whether he (Astro) was in his palace on June 5, 2020, when Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of NDC and his team paid a visit asking him to retract the falsehood or ‘face unpleasant consequences’.
Later, the Buipewura spokesperson, Prince Gbanso, issued a statement, warning youth in the region to stop peddling falsehoods in the name of politics.
“Buipewura Jinapor II has taken a keen interest to issue this statement of caution due to the fact that, it is becoming one too many the level at which the Youth especially those involved in politics are always quick to twist information from chiefs in Savannah region to the advantage of their political parties therefore, opening up our skins for public ridicule and bashing,” the statement read.
“I wish to as a matter of urgency admonish our youth to either say it as it is or refrain from commenting on issues that has the tendency of dragging our names to disrepute,” it says.
“On this note, I wish to call on one Mohammed Astro Damongo to retract, delete and render unqualified apology for the lies he shared on his Facebook wall purporting to be coming from my outfit. I wish to send a very strong caution to Mohammed Astro Damongo to do the needful within 48 hours or face my wrath.
Let me also send a strong signal to all political party Communications team in Savannah Region to be very careful about their comments on our chiefs in Savannah Region,” the statement noted.
