The Police at East Legon, Accra have arrested a businessman in connection with the death of his wife.
Charles Dedjoe, Chief Executive Officer of Chadeco Group Of Companies Limited, was arrested on Independence Day on March 6, 2021, after his father-in-law reported the alleged murder of his daughter to the East Legon Police.
The 43-year-old woman, Lillian Dedjoe, according to police’s initial information, died after reportedly slipping and falling off the stairs at their East Legon home.
However, the father of the deceased, (named withheld), according to the police, later accused the suspect of assaulting his daughter leading to her death.
The couple has been married for some years, a union blessed with two children. The relationship however, reportedly, became sour, leading to the wife suffering alleged assaults from the man.
On March 1, 2021, an argument reportedly ensued between the couple during which the man allegedly assaulted the woman.
“The woman went to the Madina Polyclinic for treatment but upon her return her condition deteriorated,” a source told DAILY GUIDE.

The source added that on March 6, the wife fell into coma and when she was rushed to Lister Hospital on the Spintex Road, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Her father upon hearing the news reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the husband.
The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Efia Tenge, when contacted, confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, adding that on March 6, 2021, Prince Charles Dedjoe reported to the police that around 3:20am while they were asleep, he heard his wife scream from their staircase.
“The suspect said when he went out of the room, he saw his wife lying unconscious on the staircase and together with his two children, they rushed the wife to a hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival,” the PRO said.
Continuing, she said some police officers were dispatched to the said hospital to carry out their investigation on the issue.
On the same day the deceased’s father went to the police station to report that the day before his daughter died, she reportedly complained to him that she was severely assaulted by her husband.
She said the father was insisting that the beatings might have led to the death of his daughter.
The PRO added that police had remanded suspect into police custody while investigations into the matter continued.
The suspect was later sent to the Madina District Magistrate Court, where the court presided over by Effua Tortimah, remanded the suspect until March 22, for the police to continue with their investigation.
