Castro, Janet Bandu Legally Dead

Castro and Janet Bandu

By Ghanaian law, popular hip life artiste, Castro, born Theophilus Tagoe and his friend, Janet Bandu, are no longer among the living. They are dead.

The two disappeared near the estuary on the Volta River at Ada while they went jet-skiing during a holiday experience at Peace Holiday Hotel with soccer star Asamoah Gyan on July 6, 2014.

Their disappearance raised a lot of questions about whether they were dead or alive, after all attempts to find their bodies proved futile.

It is believed that when someone drowns in any water body, the dead body should be washed back to the banks after three days. But in the Castro and Janet case, no bodies were found till date.

Tuesday, July 6, 2021 marked exactly seven years of their disappearance.

According to Section 33 of Ghana’s Evidence Act, if a person has not been heard of for seven years despite diligent effort to find that person, he or she will be presumed dead.

By the Act, Castro and his friend are officially dead.

Meanwhile, a number of showbiz stakeholders have not come to terms with Castro’s possible death. They believe he is alive and would show up one day.

Castro’s father has reportedly said the family was not going to organise a funeral for their son because they don’t believe he is dead. They, however, have no qualms with what the law says.
