Change Beckons East Ayawaso

Change appears to be beckoning residents of East Ayawaso, as the political space witnesses an unusual movement. The number of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters continues to increase by the day in the area.

A Keep-Fit exercise organized by the constituency executives and the campaign team last Sunday turned out to be a colossal exercise to kick-start the party’s street political activities in the constituency.
Despite the notion that the East Ayawaso Constituency has been the stronghold of the ruling party since 1992, the atmosphere and euphoria which underpinned the exercise is suggestive of a growing support base for the opposition NPP.
On the streets of Nima, there was a huge participation of the youth- both male and female, a departure from previous spectacles when such programmes were held.
Peter Mireku, the parliamentary candidate of the constituency, who led the exercise, was full of confidence and hope driven by a sense of purpose.

Passersby were not left out of the euphoria as they solidarised with the participants.

They waved their hands as if to say ‘we are with you in spirit.’ Some of them even demanded the party’s T-shirts and other paraphernalia.
The programme started around 7am and ended at about 10am at the party’s constituency office without commotion, something not possible in the past.
