Selorm Amevor preparing his dish at the Eat Ghana Chicken Cooking Competition
The maiden edition of the Ghana Chicken Festival was held in Accra last week.
AgriHouse Foundation is the organiser of the festival which took place at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra on Monday.
As part of activities marking the festival, a special cooking competition for chefs dubbed: ‘Eat Ghana Chicken Cooking Competition’ is being held.
Acting Head of Marketing and Communications at Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Selorm Amevor; celebrity blogger, Ameyaw Debrah; Kafui Dey, a renowned television host, battled each other in the cooking competition.
Other chefs participating in the cooking competition are Patrick Opoku Adjei, Business Development Manager, Agribusiness, Fidelity Bank; Kingsley Adofo-Addo, Head of SME Unit, Ecobank; Rebecca Aboagye, President – Nyonkodo Farmers Association; Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Kandifo Leadership Institute; Eric Nesta Quarshie, Business Development Manager, OCP Ghana.
Each chef is cooking a dish with one full chicken. The cooking process is to last for a period of three hours after which judges will pass their verdict on who the best chef is.
Each of the chefs including Mr. Amevor prior to the kick-off of the competition, expressed optimism about being the overall winner.
Executive Director of AgriHouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, told the media that the reason for organising the Ghana Chicken Festival was to ensure that the value chains in the poultry sector are in tandem and working with each other.
According to her, the festival was aimed at celebrating chicken nationwide and creating awareness about the poultry sector. She said there were job opportunities in the poultry sector.
