RESIDENTS OF Regimanuel Gray Estate at East Airport can now breathe a sigh of relief following the decision by a High Court in Accra to set aside a writ of possession earlier granted to the Numo Kofi Anum family of Tesa/Teshie as well as suspend the execution of its March 2024 judgement, pending appeal.
For weeks, the normally quiet Regimanuel Gray Estate at East Airport became a place of fear and confusion, as members of the Numo Kofi Anum family and their agents moved in to demolish properties following a judgement of the court.
In the midst of the confusion, the real estate company filed an application at the High Court challenging the writ of possession on ground that notice was not served on occupants of the land who are third parties and were not part of the original decision of court.
The High Court, presided over by Justice Kenneth Edem Kudjordjie, in his ruling, held that the courts exist to uphold the law, adding that, “a judgement or order which emanated from the court is to ensure clarity, certainty, peace and to champion the ideals of justice.”
He pointed out that if a judgement has been delivered and the enforcement of the judgement does not champion the ideals of justice, but creates confusion, an application to the court will invoke its discretionary jurisdiction to make orders which may appear to be just.
Confirming the ruling, the management of Regimanuel Gray Limited, in a press statement, indicated that the decision was a crucial step in restoring order to residents of the estate.
It said the manner in which the pursuit of a supposedly peaceful order was carried, coupled with the extra judicial acts perpetrated against Regimanuel Gray Limited and the third parties who are innocent purchasers for value without notice, were recounted to the court.
It said the Numo Kofi Anum family of Tesa acted outside the remit of the court order by proceeding to demolish property belonging to Regimanuel Gray and third parties.
The statement further pointed out that it all began in late June to August 2025, when the family arrived at the gated estate, armed with a court writ of possession issued on June 24, 2025.
“Instead of a peaceful legal process, residents were met with loud confrontations, bulldozers, and threats. Families feared leaving their homes, and parents kept their children indoors,” the statement added.
