Prof Edmund Delle, CPP Chairman
Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Prof Edmund Delle, has saluted Muslims as they mark Eid-El-Adha or festival of sacrifice today.
In a statement, Prof Delle sends the party’s “warmest felicitation and good wishes to all Muslims in Ghana and the world on this auspicious feast of sacrifice.”
As a significant feast that commemorates Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his only son in obedience to God’s command, it is the hope of the CPP that the feast will inspire all Muslims to work to maintain the peace in the country the statement pointed out.
The CPP “acknowledges the humility and submissive spirit of Ibrahim, and urges Ghanaians to also emulate these values to help us work towards a peaceful election and build our country to the greater glory of God.”
As a religion of peace, the party stated “we also like to urge Muslim youth to shun any politician who would attempt to use them to achieve their ends or to cause mayhem during this year’s December elections.”
Continuing, the CPP prayed for unity and in its own words, saying, “May the unity and oneness that symbolises the peaceful gathering of families and friends, characterised by the sharing of meals with all, particularly the poor, help us be more tolerant, respectful, and spur our willingness to continue to guard our relative peace and stability.”
