A trending video about what looks like a rehearsal for trouble with one of the actors firing a weapon and campaigning for the NDC, should attract the attention of Ghanaians because it portends danger.
The foregone opinion might sound outlandish but the video under review which social media patrons had seen in the past few days was supposed to cow Ghanaians into submission.
Such videos should not be swept under the carpet because we have an opposition personality who once touted the violent pedigree of their party.
While the objective of those behind the video will not be achieved, the security agents must nonetheless deal with the subject with the needed alacrity and efficiency.
Trending about a month away from the December 7 election and against the backdrop of a series of security breaches in the country, the video is telling.
The actors in the video without doubt are daring the national security apparatus of the country.
As an anonymous observer pointed out “some of them actors could be on the wanted list of law enforcement.”
No individual or a group can triumph over the awesome powers of the state. This is a fact those who are being fooled into joining an unproductive venture should be mindful about and be counseled.
We would be surprised if the actors have not yet been invited for questioning after posting the nasty and unimpressive show on social media.
Only jokers would resort to this kind of show and expect it to translate into votes. Our impression about the invincibility of the state does not seek to downplay the danger posed by the hoodlums on the payroll of an opposition party.
The possibility of the actors staging the show upon the directives of some politicians makes the bloodcurdling choreography even more intriguing.
The firing of pump action guns cannot stop the December 7 elections from taking place, never.
The element of surprise was lost when the Ofosu Ampofo audio was leaked—the contents now in public domain. All the happenings do not surprise anymore.
Creating a picture of instability close to elections was contained in the audio and so when these gun-touting men rehearse in the bush as they chant the name of a flag bearer of a party they do not deserve plaudits.
Vigilance on the part of all peace-loving citizens of this great country is what is required.
Any suspicious movements of firearms and even activities should be reported to the nearest security post for action.
Idle criminals for want of something to do will jump at any offer from disgruntled politicians to foment trouble.
Elections are won through hard work and convincing messages, not threat and firing of weapons to deter people from voting.
When the pendulum of power swings to the electorate on December 7, let them come out in their numbers and vote for a party which has performed excellently.
The concerted efforts and resolve for peace by Ghanaians would dwarf the hired guns.
Those who wish calamity for a country they want to rule do not deserve the votes of their compatriots.
Daring our national security apparatus as the actors in the offensive video have done, should not be countenanced under any circumstance.
Let them dare and they would be crushed. Democracy has come to stay!
