Deborah Freeman
Gospel artiste Deborah Freeman has declared her intention to contest for the 2nd vice presidential slot of the upcoming Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) elections slated for June 26, 2019.
Deborah, who is currently the general secretary of the union, has worked tirelessly to convince her colleagues and music fans that she is capable of managing the affairs of the union.
She told BEATWAVES that when voted into power as the 2nd vice president of MUSIGA, she would change the plight of musicians in the country, as well as put in place policies that would protect the interest of the musicians.
Deborah is contesting with another gospel singer, Abena Ruthy, who also has similar ambition, but all eyes are on Deborah now because she is the only candidate who has made her programmes for the union known to all.
She stated that her intention for this position is based on her desire to serve on board, implementing strategic plans that would bring the real benefit of all members of the union.
Deborah Freeman, who has been in the gospel music scene for the past two decades with three albums, is also the general secretary of the Union of Informal Workers’ Associations (UNIWA) of TUC Ghana, the umbrella body of informal workers in Ghana of which MUSIGA is a founding member.
As an experienced executive member of MUSIGA, a number of top rated music industry stakeholder, including gospel artistes across the 10 regions of Ghana, have all promised to vote massively for her.
