Kwabena Nsenkyire
ALL IS set for residents of the Dichemso Electoral Area in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, to go to the polls for the election of their assemblyman today.
Five people, including Kwabena Nsenkyire, the incumbent assemblyman, are contesting for the seat in today’s election.
The people of Dichemso could not cast their ballots when people in other parts of the country elected their assembly members due to a legal tussle.
Reports indicate that the misunderstanding and legal battle that stopped the election had been rectified now, paving way for the polls.
Ashanti Regional Electoral Commission (EC) chief, Serebuor Quaicoe, speaking on Otec FM in Kumasi, stated that all was set for the polls to take place.
According to him, all the electoral areas in the region, with the exception of Dichemso Electoral Area, had successfully elected their assembly members.
Mr. Quaicoe said the elections would start at 7am and end at 5pm, which would be followed by counting and declaration of the winner.
Nsenkyire, who is the Ashanti Regional National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) chief, has stated that he would easily win the elections and continue with his work.
According to him, he had played vital roles in transforming Dichemso in the past, adding that he still has a lot to offer towards the growth of the area.
He appealed passionately to the electorate to vote massively for him.
