The versatile disc jockey (DJ) Kofi Amoako, popularly known as DJ Vyrusky, was crowned Best DJ of the Year at the 2021 Ghana DJ Awards held last Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The talented DJ who has performed on a number of events such as Ghana Meets Naija Concert, the Hennessey Artistry Concert, Tidal Rave among others beat competition from DJ Faculty, DJ Sly, DJ Mic Smith, DJ MJ and DJ Aroma to win the ultimate award.
This year’s event, which was repackaged to meet the demands of the industry players, rewarded hardworking radio, nightclub and mobile DJs who have contributed immensely to the growth of the entertainment industry in Ghana.
Credited with a number of awards, DJ Vyrusky again won the Best Event DJ of the Year and Best DJ (Southern Zone) at the event.
The event, themed ‘Take Over’, also honoured DJ Papa Bills with Record Promoter of the Year award whilst Ohemaa Woyeje of Angel FM took home Female DJ of the Year Award.
DJ Mic Tontoh also won Pub DJ of the Year with DJ Rampage and DJ Dials GH taking home Mobile DJ of the Year and Discovery DJ of the Year awards respectively.
Plus FM’s DJ Shark took home Afrobeat/Hiplife DJ of the Year whilst DJ Switch also won Young DJ of the Year.
Other winners include DJ Tality –Scratch DJ of the Year, DJ Xpliph–Artiste DJ of the Year, Mr Kaxtro – Male Radio DJ of the Year, DJ MJ – Female DJ of the Year, DJ Kkrackk – Club DJ of the Year, King Lagazee – Reggae/Dancehall DJ of the Year and a host of others.
The awards ceremony witnessed thrilling performances from Ghanaian musicians like Kwabena Kwabena, D-Black, KiDi among others.
