Worlasi has warned the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to do the right thing after using his music in its documentary without seeking permission from him.
A live video of ex-President John Mahama detailing some of his achievements in a documentary on Monday has Worlasi’s song titled ‘One Life’( featuring Sena Dagadu & Six Strings) playing at the background of the documentary.
It happened at the same time the NDC was launching its 2020 manifesto.
The use of the song without permission, however, contradicts the NDC flagbearer’s 2020 manifesto which promises to create an arts industry that would “strengthen regulation to protect the copyright of artistes and ensure that they get value for their works by enforcing the payment of user fees under the Copyright Regulations, 2010 (L.I. 1962).”
Clearly, the party knew the processes to go through but went ahead to use the song without permission.
Worlasi took to social media on Monday to register his displeasure with the NDC.
“NDC, please you didn’t help me do my music. You have not helped me in any way in my life for me to create good music. You didn’t pay Senku to produce …You didn’t pay my manager Mawuko. I am not part of your manifesto …I mean nothing is in my blood. I beg you do the right thing. The one that you have already used, do the necessary payment. Do what is right. Start wiring,” he said in a video he shared on Instagram.
He also revealed he was putting things together to possibly sue the NDC.
“Tag NDC … Worlarmy let’s make that noise while I do mine behind the scenes!! We can’t be exploited!!! Love,” he also tweeted to his fan base.
