‘Don’t Fall For Promises Of Political Tricksters’

Very Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante

The immediate past Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Very Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante, has urged Ghanaians not to believe the lofty promises of any politically confidence trickster and vote him in the upcoming general election.

He wants the electorate to look for someone who is competent and sincere, capable of delivering and steering the country’s affairs.

Rev. Prof. Mante said this at the 2nd Annual Heritage Lecture Series hosted by the Presbyterian College of Education at Akropong Akuapem, where a multipurpose office complex was named after him.

Rev. Prof. Mante emphasised that in order for voters to make wise choices, they must carefully consider the past works of presidential candidates.

He noted, “If after voting for the person, you go out there to demonstrate or engage in violent protests, it means you don’t understand democracy. The basic principle of democracy is to be vigilant about the leader you vote for.”

At the same occasion, Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, former General Secretary of the National Peace Council, delivered a speech titled “Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Heritage and Embracing Change.”

He suggested that Ghana’s cultural diversity should be considered as a strength rather than a weakness, and advised politicians to avoid using cultural differences to divide the population.

The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Nana Opare Kwakye, explained the reason the six-storey multipurpose office complex was named after Rev. Prof. Mante.
