Supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Effiduase-Asokore Constituency of the Ashanti Region have embarked on a special march to promote peace before, during and after the 2016 general elections.
The peace march was organized by the parliamentary candidate of the NPP for Effiduase-Asokore, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie.
Supporters of the NDC took part in the exercise in NPP paraphernalia.
Dr. Afriyie urged all NDC and NPP supporters nationwide to stand up for peace and resist vehemently any attempts by a person or party to rig in this year’s election.”
He appealed to state institutions like the Electoral Commission (EC) and the Ghana Police Service to be neutral in this year’s elections.
According to him, “If all state institutions will remain neutral in this year’s election, then true meaning will be given to our ultimate quest and cherished value as a people for peace and unity.”
“I will do my part but will expect the EC, IGP and the military high command and their men and women to do same,” he added.
Ghanaians must seek a united and stable Ghana after December 7, hence we need to resist any person, party, agency or security institution that attempt to facilitate rigging and unfairness.”
