Actor and comedy skitmaker, Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, popularly known as Dr Likee, has announced his intention to retire from acting.

In an interview circulating on social media, Dr Likee explained the reasons behind his decision. Despite his dedication and hard work in helping up-and-coming actors and content creators succeed on YouTube, he expressed frustration over false accusations and negative remarks directed towards him.

“Two weeks after I return to Ghana, I won’t do it again. I am not going to act nor will I produce movies again,” he stated. Dr Likee highlighted the demanding nature of his work, noting that he often works from 6am to 6pm, which has taken a toll on him.

He also addressed accusations of favoritism, asserting that he has worked with a wide range of creators and refuted claims that he has preferred collaborators.

“Present all the creators here and point out who I have not worked with before,” he challenged.

Dr Likee has been instrumental in the recent resurgence of the Kumawood movie industry. His popular YouTube comedy skits have not only entertained audiences but have also provided a platform for many emerging talents, including Kyekyeku, 39/40, C-confion, Jordan, and Sobolo, among others.

“When I quit, I won’t be accused or blamed for anything,” he concluded, hinting that his departure would bring him peace from the scrutiny and false allegations.
