They were apprehended when a taxi driver crossed them with his cab when they attempted to flee with the money.

Superintendent K. Bempah, the prosecutor, said the two committed the offence on July 14 at ARS-American House at East Legon, a suburb of Accra.

Appearing before the court, presided over by Aboagye Tandoh, the accused persons, who were without lawyers, denied the charges of conspiracy to rob and robbery.

The complainant is an Israeli and works with System Ghana Advance Laboratory Limited, Agbogba as laboratory manager and resides at Shiashie, East Legon.

Bakar is unemployed and lives at Adabraka while Terror, who claims to be a commercial motor rider, lives at Odawna in Accra.

At about 1pm on the said day, the complainant parked his Nissan Pickup vehicle with registration number GT 9266-17 on the shoulder of the road along the American House- ARS area, opposite Citydia Supermarket at East Legon.

While still talking on the phone, Senusi approached him to alert him that his car had a flat tyre.

Mann got down to check what was happening, but Bakar pointed a screw driver at him and ordered him to sit at the front passenger seat, which he obliged.

Bakar quickly rushed to the left rear door of the vehicle and opened it.

Bakar stole Mann’s bag containing cash of GH¢4,030.00, his Israeli passport, mobile phone, spare car key and some documents.

The prosecution said Bakar quickly sat on a Royal motorbike with registration number M-17-GT 4526 manned by Terror, who had parked a little further from where the Mann’s car had been parked.

They took off immediately Bakar sat on it, but Mann raised an alarm which attracted the attention of some members of the public, including a taxi driver, witness in the case, who was in-charge of a Kia Shuma taxi cab with registration number GR 2731-16.

The driver knocked them down but the accused persons got up and took to their heels.

Information was relayed to some policemen on duty at American House, who rushed to the scene and arrested the accused persons with the assistance of members of the public.

The handbag was retrieved from the accused persons with the contents intact.

The suspects were later escorted to the East Legon Police Station together with exhibits.
