ECG Donates To Mawuli School

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has donated an ultramodern Risograph machine to Mawuli Secondary School in Ho, the Volta Regional capital to aid teaching and learning.

The Risogaph machine which costs about GH¢ 20,000 (including installation) is a brand of digital duplicator designed mainly for high-volume photocopying and printing. It is sometimes referred to as a digital duplicator or printer-duplicator.

With this new machine, the school’s expenditure on printing and photocopying will reduce.

Peter Logo, a representative of the 1969-1971 year group of the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU) said the school has for years been struggling with printing problems, particularly the cost and maintenance of printing machines so his year group made an appeal to the management of ECG some time ago to help address the challenge. He was therefore happy that ECG has responded to their request.

Presenting the equipment to the school on behalf of the Managing Director, the Volta Regional General Manager of ECG, Ing. Delali Oklu, said the donation was part of ECG’s corporate social responsibility to communities and institutions in areas where the Company operates.

“When the request by OMSU was evaluated, we deemed it necessary to grant it despite our current tight financial position. With this Risograph, large number of papers can be photocopied in a shorter time at a relatively cheaper cost”, Ing. Oklu said.

He was hopeful that with the enormous benefits to be derived from the copier, students of the school will excel more.

The Headmaster of Mawuli Senior High School, Rev. Samuel Senanu Asieni thanked the management of ECG for the donation saying it will go a long way to reduce their expenditure.

He stressed that with this gesture, the challenge the school faces in printing high volumes of examination papers will be a thing of the past.

“It is my pledge that this machine will be used for the intended purpose, properly catered for, to live its fullest lifespan so that the intended beneficiaries who are the students will fully enjoy its fruits”, he said.

And on that note, ECG has assigned an expert to train some of the school staff on the proper operation of the machine.
