The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has injected 20 transformers in the Western Region.
Speaking to the media, the General Manager of ECG in the Western Region, Ing. Emmanuel Justice Ofori indicated that transformers play vital roles in ensuring that power is distributed safely and efficiently.
“Thus, there is always the need to assess the load on the transformers serving the various districts and communities and to undertake injections where necessary,” he added.
According to Ing. Ofori, the region identified some areas which needed injections due to overloading of the transformers, resulting in localised faults and low voltage.
Ing. Ofori added that the region carries out load monitoring of transformers in the various districts and vegetation control to ensure stable and reliable electricity supply.
He said the company is rolling out other projects and churning out other initiatives to improve customer service delivery.
For his part, the Regional Engineer of ECG, Ing. Yaw Sarfo explained that the essence of the exercise was to improve the quality of electricity supply.
It was also to ensure stable voltage and minimise the number of faults in some areas in the region. He said, nine out of the eleven districts in Western Region will benefit from the important project.
He mentioned the communities to benefit from the project as Ampiam, Kansaworodo, Atuabo and Wassa Akropong.
The rest include Sefwi Wiawso, Bogoso, Sekondi, Nyamekyekrom, Krobo, Komfueku, Inchaban and Nkwanta.
“Most of the transformers injected were 200kVA which will relieve load on existing transformers to reduce localised outages in the communities,” he pointed out.
