Ekow Blankson on set with Bismark The Joke
Actor Ekow Blankson is expected to return to full time acting as he makes a comeback in a new movie titled ‘In April’.
Ekow, a very good actor, has been maintaining low profile for over four years in Ghana’s movie industry for reason unknown.
He was last seen in 2011 movie, ‘Death After Birth’ by Roger Q Productions.
‘In April’, the new movie he featured in, silently projects the need for proper counselling in African marriages and also seeking attention for mental health therapy in this part of the world.
It is a captivating tale of a young married couple who are experiencing serious marital issues that require counselling. While the wife reflects on an annual vacation that took place with her best friends out of town, will the activities of the vacation remain in the dark? That is exactly what movie enthusiasts should watch out for.
Ekow played one of the lead roles alongside other award-winning actors such as Yvonne Nelson, Kweku Elliot, Bismark Nii Odoi, Belinda Dzattah and Regina Van-Helvert.
‘In April’ is produced by Daniel Edah for DEO Studios and directed by Ghana’s newest phenomenal director, Eddie Nartey.
It will premiere September 3 at Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall and West Hills Mall.
Ekow is known for his roles in movies as ‘The Intruder’, ‘Diary of the Black Hustler’, ‘The Saga’, ‘Total Exchange’, ‘A Woman’s Desire’, and ‘Frozen Emotion’.
His role in Shirley Frimpong Manso’s directed ‘Checkmate’ years ago earned him a Best Actor nomination at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and Best Supporting Actor at the Ghana Movie Awards.
Ekow started acting from church and has been in the movie industry for about 28 years now.
He has also played influential roles in ‘Sun City’, and ‘Broadway’ TV series.
Working as a presenter in 1995, he hosted the music programme I Want to Know You on Radio Univers. In 1998, he moved to Joy FM. The same year, he was on Metro TV.
Subsequently in 2005, he was made the general manager of Luv FM and Nhyira FM, all under Multimedia Group.
Before that, he was the customer relations manager for Adom FM and a part-time lecturer at the School of Performing Arts, University of Ghana.
