Farmer Murdered Over Land Dispute At Kensere

A suspected land dispute has turned deadly at Kensere, a farming community in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region, after a middle-aged farmer was murdered, throwing the area into fear and tension.
The deceased, identified as Yaw Acheampong, believed to be in his 50s, was found dead on a disputed farmland where he had gone to carry out his normal farming activities.
Eyewitnesses told Daily Guide Network that the late Acheampong was allegedly ambushed by unknown assailants upon arrival at the farm. He reportedly sustained deep cuts to the head, while his left wrist was severed and later found some distance away from the body.
Community sources revealed that the land has been the subject of prolonged litigation between the deceased and another individual, a dispute residents say had created tension in the area for years.
The fatal attack is suspected to be linked to the unresolved land case.
Residents who rushed to the area after hearing distress calls found Acheampong lifeless and immediately reported the matter to the police.
The body has since been deposited at a nearby mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Bekwai Divisional Police Command has launched investigations into the incident. Police sources confirmed that some individuals have been picked up to assist with investigations as efforts intensify to track down the perpetrators.
Although no arrests have been officially announced, the police have assured the public that all leads are being pursued to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
The incident has sparked fear within the Kensere community, with residents calling on security agencies to increase patrols to protect lives and property.
Traditional leaders have also appealed for calm as investigations continue.
The killing once again underscores the growing threat posed by unresolved land disputes, particularly in rural farming communities where such conflicts often escalate into violence.
