As part of efforts to contribute to a peaceful society devoid of discrimination and other social vices, singer and rapper, Feli Nuna, is staging a campaign against hate speech online.
The world over, hate speech has been a menace to democratic values, social stability and peace. Combating it is therefore crucial to deepening progress in helping to prevent armed conflict, atrocity crimes and terrorism among others.
The United Nations has a long history of mobilising the world against hatred of all kinds through wide-ranging actions to defend human rights and advance the rule of law.
Feli Nuna in that spirit is organising a six-day creative workshop with her team under theme; ‘Power to change to combat hate speech’.
“Earlier this year before all the Covid madness, I was in Italy for training as part of a global network called the Hate Fighters Movement which falls under the Erasmus+ umbrella. We believe in Love, Equality and Nondiscrimination. As the Ghanaian Ambassador, My team and I have put together a six-day local workshop to extend this message,” she said on Wednesday.
Feli Nuna and the team will use creative methods to tackle hate.
She explained that they are targeting to use photography, videography, music and dance to create art that will move and inspire the world against hate.
The workshop is scheduled to take place on November 23, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 30.
Participation for the workshop is free but persons who want to be part must first call to book. “You don’t need to be a creative. You just need to have an interest. Everyone is welcome,” she indicated.
Feli Nuna is one of Ghana’s award-winning musicians who had to deal with the menace of hate. In April 2019, she had to walk off stage after a fan attacked her by throwing sachet water at her during Ebony Reigns memorial concert.
