Members of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG) will go to the polls in July 2019 to elect new leaders to fill regional and national executive positions of the guild.
This will be the first constitutional election by the guild, which has been run by interim national and regional executives since July 7, 2015.
Regional elections will take place on Monday, May 27, 2019, while the national elections follow on July 8, 2019.
On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, the interim leadership of the guild inaugurated a five-member National Electoral Committee (NEC) and tasked them to make all needed and necessary provisions available for the national and regional elections.
The FDGG, in a statement signed by Daniel Fiifi Jayden, Communications Director of the FDGG, promised the elections will be conducted on a free and fair manner.
“The elections are opened to all members of the association with a standing membership status. The committee will conduct the election with no fear or favour,” the statement added.
The FDGG is a national association for all film directors, production managers, assistant directors and script supervisors (continuity persons).
It has, in the past three, years proven that it has come to stay. The coming elections will, therefore, solidify its influence on the entertainment industry.
