Fisherman Caged For Attempted Rape

A 45-year-old fisherman, who allegedly attempted to have sex with his co-tenant without her consent, is in the web of the law.

The accused, Oscar Anettey Abbey, is reported to have gone into the room of the complainant, Lekia Adjele, aged 25, when she was fast asleep at about 2:30 am on August 23, this year, at James Town, a suburb of Accra.

According to the prosecution led by Detective Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbiri, Oscar, having entered the room of Lekia, found her half-naked and applied Queen Elizabeth Cocoa Butter on her buttocks.

The accused, as told by Detective Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbiri, felt some sensation between her buttocks and Lekia woke up only to see Oscar standing by her bed with his penis erected.

The complainant raised an alarm and Oscar got out of the room but she chased him into his compound, got hold of him and attempted taking him to the James Town police station but the accused fled.

The complainant lodged a complaint, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Charged with causing unlawful damage to the trap door of the accused worth GH¢80, unlawful entry and indecent assault, the accused admitted the offence.

The court, presided over by Mrs. Ruby Naa Adjeley Quayson, convicted the accused on his   own plea of guilty and deferred sentencing until September 7, 2016.
