Four Drown In River

The local divers trying to rescue the victims

FOUR PEOPLE, including a mother and her child, have died with another person missing after a car they were travelling in accidentally fell into a river on Tuesday morning.

The heartbreaking incident, reportedly, happened on the Dabaah-Akropong Road in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, and it sparked melancholic scenes.

According to reports, the woman, whose name and identity is still not known, owned a small black vehicle and was taking her two children to school on Tuesday morning.

On the way, the woman gave a lift to a male plumber and female teacher. Few minutes later, the woman’s car mysteriously veered from the road and fell into a river.

Eyewitness reports indicated that the vehicle started to sink fast, and the incident attracted scores of people to the scene, who shouted for help to rescue the five people onboard the car.

Some local divers were eventually called to assist, and they managed to rescue the woman (driver), one of her children, the plumber and female teacher, but it was too late as they had all died.

The second child of the woman was still not found by the local divers by the time this report was being filed on Tuesday evening.

DAILY GUIDE later gathered that residents of the area were considering seeking the intervention of traditional leaders for the pouring of libation to pacify the gods, to help find the missing child.
