Ga Mantse Discharged From UGMC After Car Crash

His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, was discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) yesterday, following a life-threatening car accident in the Oti Region last week.

The monarch was discharged following a thorough medical examination by experts at the hospital who, sources say, gave him a clean bill of health.

The Ga Mantse was in an optimistic mood as he left the premises of the hospital yesterday, following the accident on February 17, 2026.

President John Mahama paid a courtesy call on the influential King on Saturday at the UGMC, where he wished him a speedy recovery.

The Ga Mantse’s convoy was involved in a horrifying accident on February 17 as he was on his way to Accra from the Oti Region.

The accident occurred along the Pai-Katanga stretch of the Oti highway in the Oti Region.

News about the accident sent shockwaves through the Ga state and the entire nation, as it was immediately not clear whether there were any casualties in the accident.

Tensions were calmed when the Office of the Ga Mantse confirmed the accident in a statement, but indicated that there were no casualties.

According to the statement signed by the Chief of Protocol and Communications, Amb. (Sir) S.J.K. Parker-Allotey, the King was returning to Accra after an “urgent mission.”

“By the grace of God, there were no casualties, and with police assistance and support of his aides on board the vehicles involved, they were all successfully evacuated to Accra, where they underwent medical checks and were discharged in very stable condition,” the statement said.

It further noted that the King and all those involved are making good recovery, according to continuous medical monitoring.

“The King has directed that, sincere thanks be conveyed to the evacuation team and aides as well as all those who sent well wishes and prayers after learning of the incident. The continuous medical monitoring indicates that all involved will resume normal duties very soon,” it added.
