Officials of Garden City Mall, EBID and GCB inspecting works at the Garden City Mall
THE GARDEN City Mall, currently under construction, is 85 per cent complete, Alex Kwasi Bruks, CEO of the Garden City Mall Ltd, has said.
He said construction works on the massive project was stalled for a while due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, but works were set to resume very soon.
Mr. Bruks, speaking to journalists at the construction site, announced that the facility was set to be completed latest by April 2021, barring any last minute hitch.
The occasion was when officials of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) toured the construction site.
The Garden City Mall has three major stakeholders and they include Methodist Church Ghana, Garden City Mall Ltd and Asanteman, led by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The EBID and GCB, two prestigious financial institutions, have each pumped a staggering US$20 million to help finance the mall, which is a state-of-the-art project.
The President of EBID, George Agyekum Nana Donkor, in his remarks, explained that his bank provided funding for the project because it could boost the economy of Ghana.
“The Garden City Mall project, when completed, would help boost the economic activities of Kumasi, promote job creation and also reduce abject poverty from the city.
“The huge edifice would also help support government’s agenda to enhance economic activities in the country,” Nana Donkor said, adding that he was impressed so far.
“I am happy about the excellent construction works being provided by the contractor, Consar Company Ltd. This will be the biggest mall in Ghana when completed,” he said.
The EBID President indicated that he embarked on the tour at the construction site in order to give him a fair idea, regarding how the construction works were being done.
Nana Donkor urged the contractors to sustain their splendid works so that in the end “an ultra modern mall project would be constructed to improve business activities.”
