THE GHANA Education Service (GES) has reportedly dismissed 10 teachers for allegedly breaching aspects of the Code of Professional Conduct of the GES.
The offending teachers include those who allegedly got involved in sex scandal and stealing of school foodstuffs.
GES made the announcement in a statement issued and signed by its Head of Public Relations, Cassandra Twum Ampofo.
The statement indicated that the decision to sack the 10 affected teachers “was taken after they went through due process at all levels from the school through to the GES Council.”
The sacked teachers include Vincent Ni Armah Otoo of St. Francis SHTS; Kester Ansah Djan of Berekum SHS, Larteh – Akuapem; Adjetey Anum James of Okumaning Ugars Basie, Okumaning in the Eastern Region; Bright Akpalu of Akwatia Presbyterian Junior High School; William Akompong from Nyankumasi Senior High School, Assin Nyankumasi; Robert Seppey of Adumanu D/A Basic School, Asikuma Odoben Brakwa.
The above teachers have had their appointments terminated outright for sexual misconducts.
Mr. Seppey of Adumanu D/A Basic School was the headmaster in the infamous ‘kitchen stool sex’ tape which went viral sometime back.
Three of the teachers namely Comfort Oduro Bruce of Ghana Secondary School, Koforidua; Alfred Kumah from the Eastern Regional Education Office, Koforidua and Kwasi Agyeman of SDA SHS, Koforidua, were reportedly convicted by a court of law for stealing and have consequently been dismissed.
Finally, Wiayuga Mumuni of United Basic School, Tumu in the Upper West Region, has been dismissed from the Service, according to GES, following his conviction for an alleged defilement.
According to the statement, the dismissals are to serve as a deterrent to others who have the intention of doing similar things.
