GHAMRO Initiates Distribution Of GH¢856,700 In December Royalties

The Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has announced the distribution of GH¢856,700 in royalties for December. This distribution spans key revenue streams like Digital, Live Performance, Synchronisation, Blank Media Levy, and General Public Performance.

A statement issued by Head of Digital Service and Distribution, Gordon Mensah, disclosed that this cycle is significant as it reflects the organisation’s deepened commitment to a fair, precise, and technologically advanced distribution system.

The statement also announced the organisation’s strategic partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), utilising the WIPO-Connect platform. According to GHAMRO, this integration system is a game-changer, ensuring seamless and accurate distribution across all revenue streams.

Detailed real-time statements for rights holders are being provided, bringing unprecedented clarity. Global best practices are being integrated into the heart of the ecosystem.

“Guided by CISAC professional rules for Collective Management and the hybrid methodology, this month applies title-specific allocation for digital, live, and sync royalties while using the market share method for Blank Media Levy and General Public Performance,” the statement read.

The organisation reiterated that royalties only reach the right creators whose works are correctly registered, identified, and paid for by users.

The statement further added, “We are building a future where creators are empowered by systems that they can trust. This progress is powered by partnership and innovation, but its full potential can only be realised when over 90% of Broadcast Networks (non-compliant users) in Ghana commit to paying royalties.”

The organisation encouraged all rights holders registered with GHAMRO to call or message them on +233 57 316 8111 or send an email to info@ghamroonline.org for clarity on royalty payments and statements.
