The leadership of Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) will embark on nationwide regional tour to update members on the newly-drafted constitution and operation activities for the year under review.
The visit to the regions will give the leadership of the collective society an opportunity to brief the right owners about the state of GHAMRO.
To ensure that information in respect of the exact date and time the delegation will be in a particular region, GHAMRO said it will forward bulk messages to members who are expected to participate in the meeting to be held in all the regional capitals.
After the regional tour, GHAMRO will hold an extraordinary annual general meeting (AGM) in October at a venue to be announced later, a source at GHAMRO told BEATWAVES in an interview.
The source said invitation letters will be sent to all the members of the society, which include musicians, authors, producers and publishers from all over Ghana to attend the AGM.
He added that the various reports, including royalty distribution, audited reports from the auditors of GHAMRO, will be discussed, adding that the AGM will be used to adopt the newly-drafted constitution.
The source expressed deep worry about the high number of industry players who lack deep understanding of matters relating to copyrights, collection management organisation (CMO), among others, hinting that a lot of education and sensitisation would have to be carried out to change this.
He, however, disclosed that the administrative system of the collective society had been restructured to allow for efficient management, proper checks and balances.
The right calibre of people, he said, had been recruited and given the free hand to run affairs.
Amidst calls for accountability and transparency by a section the members, the chief operations officer (COO), Abraham Adjetey, stated that the board had followed due processes in the discharge of their role.
He maintained that every step taken had been in accordance with the laws governing the organisation, adding that GHAMRO had accounted for every money spent and would always act in the interest of members.
