Ghana’s Black Stars yesterday failed to end their World Cup campaign with a win on home soil when they hosted Egypt in Cape Coast.
Kwasi Appiah’s men managed a 1-1 drawn game against Russia 2018 bound Pharaohs; making it a third draw before home fans.
Ghana begun the campaign with 0-0 drawn game against Uganda in Tamale, moved to Kumasi and recorded yet another draw (1-1).
The youthful Stars fought from a goal down after a barren first half.
Mahmoud Shikabala opened the scoring with a terrific strike after a perfect Trezeguet pass.
But Ghana replied three minutes later through Edwin Gyasi after racing with the ball before firing a grounder with his left foot.
Goalkeeper Ekramy denied substitute inform attacker, Richmond Boakye-Yoadom, who came on for Raphael Dwamena the match winner in the dying minutes with a great save.
Ghana placed third in the four-nation group with seven points after six games, four draws and one defeat.
Egypt on the other hand won four games, drew one and lost one to amass 13 points.
Meanwhile, a minute of silence preceded the game in honour of departed Stars midfielder Yakubu Abubakar, who passed on last week.
