The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Enam Hadzide, has stated that a reformed Ghana “is not merely a vision but a shared aspiration that requires concerted efforts from all quarters.”
He made this known during the just ended National Youth Conference at the University of Ghana, Legon which attracted over four thousand young persons.
He emphasised the importance of a growth mindset, coupled with personal whims for the development of the country.
“Ghana’s history, as we know it, is steeped in the bravery and determination of our people,” he said, adding “today, that legacy lives on through us, as witnesses of the power of the reformed spirit in various facets of our society. It is time to apply that same vigor to the development and progress of our nation.”
“The theme for the 2023 National Youth Conference encapsulates the essence of our collective aspirations and our commitment to steer our nation towards a brighter tomorrow. It calls upon us to reflect upon our past, acknowledge our present challenges, and work tirelessly to reform and reshape our nation for the better,” he added.
The conference, which spanned between August 31 and September 3, 2023, focused on ensuring the cognitive growth of young persons who are determined to make a positive impact on the development of the country and eventually trigger a national movement as envisaged by the NYA under whose auspices the engagement was held.
Partnering the NYA in organising the programme was the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) under the theme: “Reformed Youth, Reformed Ghana”.
The NYA brought together numerous invited speakers including Partnership Facilitator for the United Nations Volunteers Programme, Ghana, Francis Nuamah Fosu, who shared his experiences to the conferees.
The conference also sought to accelerate, scale and measure actions that young people are taking towards the growth of the country through innovation and creative thinking.
The Executive Director for IYF and Mindset Specialist, Rev. Jae Kyun Yang, President for the Coalition of Volunteering Organisations, Ghana, and Lilly Bright Tetteh, were among the list of guest speakers, along with other renowned personalities and youth advocates.
Participants were exposed, through instructive breakout sessions, to how development in leadership, mentoring and mindset education, emotional intelligence and control have continued to advance over the years, and what opportunities lie ahead to further this progression.
The conference culminated in the National Youth Month Celebration that was dedicated to recognising, empowering and celebrating the energies, potentials and aspirations of the Ghanaian youth. The celebration provided opportunities for advocating policies and initiatives that enable the youth population of Ghana to thrive and actively engage in matters of national interest.
