Ghanaians Eulogise Daddy Lumba At One-Week Observance

Thousands of mourners thronged the Independence Square on Saturday to mark the one-week observance of the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025 at age 60.

Originally slated for the University of Ghana Stadium, the ceremony was relocated due to a noise-making ban in the La Traditional Area.

Born Charles Kwadwo Fosu in Nsuta in the Ashanti Region on September 29, 1964, Daddy Lumba’s passing at The Bank Hospital in Accra plunged the nation into mourning.

The memorial was rich with emotion and music, as mourners were treated to Daddy Lumba’s evergreen hits, including Theresa, Makra Mo, Aben Wo Ha, Sika Asem and more.
