Gospel musician, Diana Asamoah, is convinced that the ordinary Ghanaian voter come 2028 general election will desperately be in need of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to lead the affairs of the country.
During her ministration at the just ended NPP National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) under the theme: “Offer to God Thanksgiving,” Diana Asamaoh was of the view that considering the current economic state of the country, Ghanaians will be chanting Dr. Bawumia’s name for rescue.
“2028, you all should listen, looking at how the management of the economy is running, we the party members won’t be saying anything but the Ghanaian voters will be calling for Dr. Bawumia. When people meet you, they will be saying Dr. Bawumia we need you, NPP we need you. Whether you like it or not, you will need us,” she stated.
President John Mahama’s government is facing criticism from a section of Ghanaians after a year in office, with accusations of economic mismanagement, weakened security, selective accountability, and poor governance.
Many claims the government has failed to deliver on its promises, including job creation and the much-touted 24-hour economy, with rising unemployment and politically motivated dismissals in the public sector. Some criticisms include rising cases of armed robbery, murder, kidnappings, and communal violence across several regions. The 24-hour economy policy, touted as a solution to youth unemployment, remains largely unimplemented.
