Ghana made its mark on the global stage last week as Nana Addo Tamakloe, CEO of Accra Fashion Week, represented the nation at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit in Moscow. The three-day event, held from August 28 to 30, 2025 brought together industry leaders from over 60 countries to shape the future of international fashion.
For Ghana, Tamakloe’s participation was a landmark moment. He championed the growing influence of African fashion, while spotlighting Accra Fashion Week, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this December. Backed by the newly opened FashionGHANA Shop in Adabraka, the Accra showcase will run from 16–21 December, 2025 at Airport City.
This year’s summit focused on sustainability, innovation, education, and trade expansion — with special emphasis on how developing fashion markets can thrive. Tamakloe used the platform to call for stronger global cooperation, stressing that Ghanaian designers are ready to take centre stage.
“The BRICS+ Fashion Summit continues to show how emerging countries can use platforms like this to position their brands and industries at the centre of global conversations,” he said.
Running alongside the summit, Moscow Fashion Week added to the buzz, featuring designers from Russia, Brazil, South Africa, China, India, Spain, and beyond. Together, the twin events have cemented Moscow’s status as a rising global fashion hub.
As the summit closed, Ghana’s voice was firmly part of the conversation — with Accra Fashion Week and its vision for African creativity now resonating on the world stage.
