Marina Lamptey
Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE suggests internal shake up at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has led to the resignation of the Centre’s Head of Diaspora Relations, Marina Lamptey.
Ms. Lamptey, the daughter of the late David Lamptey, has been demoted from her position as Head of Diaspora Relations, GIPC, following the assumption of office by the new management.
The late David Lamptey, a former Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency and a significant financier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics.
An anonymous source which confirmed the demotion to DAILY GUIDE indicated that Marina Lamptey has been deprived of a department which she helped nurture over the past five years, becoming one of the standout departments at the GIPC.
Marina has been with GIPC for over five years, where she played a crucial role in establishing the diaspora desk aimed at harnessing investments from the Ghanaian diaspora.
As the pioneer Head of Diaspora Relations at GIPC, she has been at the forefront of facilitating investment opportunities for individuals and businesses within the diaspora community.
However, the new management of the Centre, in a surprising turn of event, dissolved the department under the guise of strengthening the Centre’s investment promotion efforts and ensuring a more coordinated approach to engaging with the diaspora community.
The source disclosed that as a result of the demotion, Marina and all staff on the Diaspora Desk have been directed to report to the Head of Corporate Affairs.
This means all staff previously under the Diaspora Desk are now staff of the Corporate Affairs Division.
The demotion has raised questions about the internal dynamics of GIPC and the potential impact of political lineage on career trajectories.
Resignation
Meanwhile, the source told DAILY GUIDE that Marina has taken the decision to resign from GIPC with immediate effect following her demotion.
The source said she has however, chosen to complete all outstanding tasks before her last day of work, and has also made herself available to assist in the transition process.
She has also committed herself doing everything she can to ensure a smooth handover of her responsibilities to her successor.
