Recruit intake 10 of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), as part of its 10th anniversary celebration, has donated assorted items to the Dzowulu Special School in Accra.
Items donated to the school includes, 42 inch flat television sets, laptops, toiletries, ceiling fans and printers among others.
Elvis Herman Hesse (jnr.), Immigration Control Officer (ICO) who spoke on behalf of the group said they chose the Dzowulu Special School because the children are special and needed support, adding that the items donated were based on the school’s request.
“We were about 196 and since we graduated 10 years ago we have lost only two members. We think it is appropriate to celebrate a decade in the service and thank God for His protection and guidance.” he said.
Herman Hess said “A lot is expected of us as officers to maintain peace, law and order. We will continue to protect the borders of the country and also collaborate with other security agencies to ensure peace in this election year”.
Madam Veronica Sackey, Head of Dzowulu Special School expressed appreciation to the group for the kind gesture, calling on other institutions to emulate.
“They have demonstrated that they don’t only protect the borders but they support as well. We are very grateful,” she added.
As part of activities to mark the 10 anniversary, the intake 10 group played a football match with a GIS division two side.
They climaxed the event with a dinner at VAG Club House.
