There was a scuffle between workers of GLICO Life Assurance Company Limited and five policemen from the Sunyani Municipal Police on Tuesday afternoon when the security agents stormed the premises of the company to arrest one of the workers who has allegedly engaged in fraudulent act.
The worker, Kennedy Appiah, DAILY GUIDE has gathered, used the payslip of Sergeant Nti Boahen of the Operational Unit of the Regional Police Command to contract loan without the knowledge of Nti.
When Sgt Boahen detected the fraudulent act of the worker, he reported the case to the municipal police and Appiah was invited for questioning, but he refused to honour the invitation on three occasions.
The command deployed two officers to arrest Kennedy but he resisted arrest.
The police detailed three officers again to go and arrest the suspect but when the officers entered the premises of GLICO, workers of the company locked the main gate behind them.
One of the officers sustained injury after arresting him.
The officer since has been admitted at the municipal police hospital.
The incident attracted a lot of onlookers to the premises of GLICO in the business district of Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region
Briefing DAILY GUIDE on the issue, Chief Inspector Augustine Oppong, Police spokesman, said the marketing manager of the company called Angela reported to the police command that five policemen stormed her office to arrest a staff in her absence.
He said the case is being investigated and that the suspect has been granted bail.
