Grace Obuor
Organisers of GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human have settled on four brilliant athletes ? Grace Obuor, Edwin Gadayi, Latifa Ali and Saminu Abdul Rasheed ? for this year’s Speedsters Club.
The four, according to GNPC Ghana Fastest Human Speedsters Club in association with Adidas, were chosen after demonstrating high-profile performance in the regional and national championship this year.
The quartet would be taken care of in the area of accommodation, feeding with a nutritionist, medical, transportation, schooling/tutoring/job placement and access to the best sprinting coaches and a sports psychologist.
According to Reks Brobby, founder of the Ghana Fastest Human initiative, the selected sprinters would also be fully kitted by Adidas with the latest in-running gear for the 2019/2020 year.
The initiative forms part of the organisers’s off-season work to keep the athletes on their toes, with Ohene Karikari as its head coach, and he would be assisted by Coach Abubakar, Coach Elorm and Coach Koora (Emmanuel Tufour).
“As you may or may not know, every year, from March to August, we stage our GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human 100 meter event for all the regions, in the U-10, U-15, U-18 and “Senior categories for both male and female, six years in a row to date,” Brobby said
“In September, we bring all the winners to Kumasi to find out who is the fastest among them and crown the champions. And in October, we pick the top four for our Speedsters Club programme,” he added.
