Gospel Music Icon Reality Show Ready To Roll

The contestants for the maiden edition of the reality show

Hundreds of upcoming gospel artistes last Saturday trooped to the Sunlodge hotel, Tesano, Accra, to participate in the upcoming Ghana Gospel Music Icon Reality Show (GGMIRS) audition.

The audition saw young talents going through a series of acapella freestyle in English and their preferred local languages.

Some of them were exceptionally great; they displayed their amazing God-given talents. Many of them, during the audition, proved that they were really talented, thus giving the judges a really tough time cutting the number down to 23.

The final 23 contestants will be outdoored before the event kicks off on March 19.

The 23 contestants, BEATWAVES gathered will be given certain tasks that are arranged to challenge their singing abilities. They will be competing for the ultimate prize, a year recording contract, cash prize among others.

GGMIRS is a singing competition reality show with the primary objective of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.

Being organised by Lightway Church of God in Christ (LCGC) in California, USA, the goal of the reality show is to entertain and educate TV audience and inspire and unearth the music passion hidden in the youth.

Being the maiden edition, GGMIRS is expected to give music fans seven solid weeks of thrills and excitement.

The reality show, according to the organisers, would pit talented singers against each other to compete for the ultimate prize. It would be a weekly show, and eviction shall be based on judges’ score.

The show promises to be an exciting one for both the producers and the contestants, focusing strictly on urban and contemporary gospel music.

After the audition, the organisers expressed their satisfaction, saying, “There are a lot of talents in the country, so we are targeting those talented youngsters who have never had the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents.”

They added, “We believe these free auditions will help many young people in Ghana to realise their full potential.”
