Dr. Sagre Bambangi
DEPUTY MINISTER for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Sagre Bambangi, has indicated government’s preparedness to combat the infamous fall armyworms which destroyed hundreds of hectors of farms last year.
The sudden appearance of the fall armyworms in the country, resulted in the destruction of food crops, making farmers lose huge revenues, although the government, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, provided a remedy to the strange pest infestation.
However, Dr. Bambangi said that unlike what happened last year, the government had adequately prepared to combat the fall armyworms and any other pests that would invade farmlands and destroy crops.
He said more than enough chemicals had been made available by the government to fight the pests to ensure
Meanwhile, Dr. Bambangi has hinted that the government would subsidize the production of certified seedlings for farmers to increase their yields.
He also indicated that the government had made available markets – both local and international – for the sale of the certified seedlings that would be produced.
