Kojo Oppong Nkrumah
The government has reiterated its dedication to the growth and development of the housing and property sector, emphasising that housing is not merely a basic necessity but a critical pillar of socio-economic development.
Speaking at the 16th edition of the Ghana Property Awards, Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, highlighted the importance of housing as a fundamental right that significantly impacts the well-being of citizens and the overall prosperity of the nation.
He noted that the government has thus prioritised policies to ensure affordable housing, strengthen urban planning, and enhance access to financing for property development.
“We understand that addressing the nation’s housing deficit requires a multifaceted approach,” Oppong Nkrumah stated, adding that the government is actively pursuing strategic partnerships, infrastructure investments, and regulatory reforms to promote inclusivity and innovation in the sector.
The minister confirmed that the government is working to create an environment enabling private-sector investments while collaborating with financial institutions to provide sustainable financing options for developers and homeowners.
Executive Director of the Ghana Property Awards, Irene Agyenkwa, underscored the critical role of the capital market in bridging the gap between ambitious infrastructure projects and the necessary resources to realise them.
Madam Agyenkwa affirmed that while the future of Ghana’s property sector is promising, it will require collective efforts from all stakeholders to build a legacy of sustainable growth and prosperity.
The awards night witnessed deserving property companies receiving recognition for their achievements.
