Gov’t To Establish UDS Satelite Campus In Yendi

Yaw Osafo Maafo

Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo, has disclosed that Government plans to establish a satellite campus for University for Development Studies (UDS) in Yendi, Northern region.

According to him, there are already existing plans to establish a university in the Yendi Municipality with its core mandate to run peace related programmes.

The aim is to champion peace in the Northern Region and the neighbouring countries.

He applauded the overlord of Dagbon for his readiness to give out land and assured him of making the establishment of a UDS campus in the area his first priority in canvassing support for Ghana Beyond Aid.

He noted that he will have a discussion with the Vice Chancellor of UDS to assist in achieving this project.

Mr. Maafo expressed his admiration towards the Overlord’s desire to provide quality education for his people and deemed the King’s choice as the wishes of all.

He made this known in his response to an appeal from the Overload of Dagbon Ya-Naa Mahama II at his palace when he paid a courtesy call on him at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.

The Overload said he has earmarked 500 acres of land for the establishment of the Campus.
