Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II (M) with Board and Management of GRA
The Board and management of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, as part of efforts to enhance their relationship with key stakeholders.
Board chair of GRA, Joe Ghartey, commended the Ga Mantse for his work, particularly for the numerous projects and programmes he has rolled out upon assumption of the throne.
He said GRA could not remain unconcerned as he embarks on those projects.
He said it was therefore imperative that the GRA leadership visits and engages the chief as part of efforts to build lasting relationship with the Ga community.
He said such collaboration will not only enhance tax collection but also go a long way to improve their relationship and improve tax education.
GRA Commissioner General, Julie Essiem, said the visit forms part of a strategic alliance with local communities to promote collaboration and increase stakeholder participation.
She said such community collaboration would also help mutual learning and tax education.
The Ga Mantse, in response lauded the work of the GRA in generating revenue for the state in spite of the low number of people particularly in the formal sector who pay tax to the state.
He further called on them not to be complacent of the number of tax contributors but to work towards expanding the tax net in order to generate more revenue for the development of the country.
The chief who also prayed for the Board of GRA especially, the Commissioner who was appointed recently for God’s blessings, he however, appealed to the Board to consider a quota for employing some Ga indigenes into the authority.
