Merqury Republic Events, organisers of the annual Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, have officially released the nominees list and categories for this year’s edition of the awards ahead of the main ceremony at the Grand Arena in Accra on November 25.
The list for over 30 categories which was released last week saw some of Ghana’s biggest names in the Djing industry compete in the various categories for awards.
Produced by Merqury Republic Events, the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards is aimed at promoting and rewarding the best achieving Ghanaian radio, night club and “recognised” mobile disk jockeys (DJs) and also to create a loyal patronage for disc jockey-driven events as well as generate exciting activities or promotions that would help sustain public interest in the art of disc jockeying in Ghana.
Among this year’s top nominees are DJ Sly King with seven nominations, DJ Mac Tonto, DJ Vyrusky and DJ Lord OTB with five each.
This year’s edition presents the tightest list yet in the coveted DJ of the Year, with DJ Nyce, DJ Sly King, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Mac Tonto, DJ Faculty and DJ Lord OTB nominated for the top award.
The awards ceremony, which is the 11th edition, will bring together the best of Ghanaian and international disc jockeys to celebrate the event with music fans.
Higher expectations await the event on November 25, as music stakeholders and fans are wondering who will win which award and which DJs will dominate the awards ceremony aimed at promoting and rewarding the best achieving Ghanaian radio, nightclub and mobile disc jockeys.
Last year’s biggest winner was DJ Vyrusky, who took home the trophies for Best DJ (Southern Zone) and DJ of the Year for the fifth time.
