Young Ghanaian female afrobeat artiste, Jackline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, has received a double platinum certification plaque for her 2021 single ‘Forever’ and ‘Seed EP’ (2020) in South Africa.
Both projects have sold more than 40,000 units each in South Africa alone, according to the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).
Gyakie, who is currently signed to RCA Records, was presented with the plaque at Sony Music Publishing in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Following her first media tour in Nigeria, Gyakie’s ‘Forever (Remix)’ with Omah Lay, released under the Sony Music Entertainment West Africa/Flip the Music imprint on March 31, 2021, rose to the number one spot on the chart in Nigeria with 1.83 million equivalent streams, according to streaming figures and data compiled by Turntable Top 50 Charts.
Gyakie, who is noted for her hit songs like ‘Forever’, ‘Joy and Happiness (Intro)’, ‘Whine’, ‘Vacation’, ‘The Journey’, among others, is regarded as the next act to come out of Ghana with her talent making way for her onto the global music market.
She is a recipient of several accolades including Best Female MVCP Viewer’s Choice Awards 2021 and the African Artiste of the Year at the Sound City MVCP Awards 2020 among others.
She has worked with almost all the top Ghanaian talents in the music scene, and backed more than 100 hit songs.
Gyakie is the daughter of one of the celebrated Ghanaian highlife musicians, Ernest Nana Acheampong.
