Hajia4Real Released From U.S. Prison?

Social media buzzed on Thursday with reports that Ghanaian socialite and musician Mona Faiz Montrage, popularly known as Hajia4Reall, was released from the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia.

The viral reports follow her 2024 sentencing, where she received a one-year and one-day prison term after pleading guilty to conspiracy to receive stolen money. The charge stemmed from her role in a romance scam ring that defrauded victims of over $2 million.

The one-day addition to her sentence qualified her for “good time” credit, a federal policy that allows early release for good behaviour.

In a court-approved arrangement, Hajia4Real is expected to voluntarily return to Ghana rather than be detained by U.S. immigration authorities. This self-deportation move helps her avoid the typical ICE processing that follows the incarceration of non-citizens.

Extradited from the United Kingdom in 2023, Hajia4Real admitted to knowingly receiving proceeds from the fraud scheme and agreed to forfeit significant assets as part of her plea deal.

Her legal troubles marked a dramatic shift from her high-profile image as an influencer and artist. Though her return to Ghana may be free of immigration hurdles, legal and public scrutiny could await her at home.
