Henry Quartey
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso Central constituency William Afum Ani-Agyei aka ‘Alajo Obama’ failed to march the popularity of his New Patriotic Party (NPP) last week Saturday during the one-week funeral of a resident of the area.
Even his attempts at making a donation during the social activity did not enhance his fortunes.
The deceased affectionately called ‘Ascona’, a known NPP activist who stays a few meters away from the NDC candidate’s residence while he was ill, had the MP contribute towards his medical bill.
When he passed away, the MP showed further generosity which pleased the bereaved family immensely, DAILY GUIDE gathered.
During the one week celebration, Henry and his entourage stormed the funeral grounds and spontaneously the whole place went agog with people chanting NPP and extolling Mr Henry Quartey. The MC of the program could not help but say “you’ll win the elections and next year you’ll be minister.”
Some NDC sympathizers unhappy about the developments called the NDC candidate to proceed to the grounds which he did. He came to the funeral grounds with two cartons of soft drinks but as if he was not welcomed the whole place went silent upon his arrival.
A few minutes after his arrival, Henry Quartey sought permission to leave and whilst leaving, the DJ played Daddy Lumba’s ‘Nana’ song as the gathering took to the floor. Henry Quartey too joined in the dance but the NDC candidate did not.
