A 26-year-old herbalist from Krofofordo near Cape Coast was on Thursday remanded in police custody by a Cape Coast Circuit Court for causing harm.
The accused, Kwamena Issah, slashed the lower abdomen of someone he suspected of stealing his mobile phone during a confrontation between the two.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and would re-appear in the court presided over by Mrs Abena Amponsa on Monday, September 24, for trial to continue.
The Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector John Asare Bediako said the complainant Mr Eric Andoh, a civil servant, lives at Kramo-Tawiah and the accused person lives at Krofofordo both in the Cape Coast Metropolis.
On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at about 0730 hours, Issah went to the complainant’s house and demanded from him a mobile phone he suspected Mr Andoh had stolen but they were separated.
However, Issah returned a day after and engaged Mr. Andoh in another scuffle and slashed his abdomen with a machete.
Mr Andoh was immediately rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and was admitted for two weeks; he made a report to the police after he had been discharged.
