The first-ever Highlife Music Awards (HMA) to reward talents in Ghana’s growing music industry is set to roll with a launch in March this year at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The actual date for the award ceremony, its itinerary, nomination rules, voting and other issues pertaining to organisation will be announced at the event.
In attendance will be leading stakeholders in the music industry, including veteran highlife musicians and the media.
President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour, is expected to grace the ceremony as the guest of honour.
The main award will reward excellence in the various areas in the industry.
A source close to the organisers told BEATWAVES that the planning committee for the maiden edition of the awards scheme has put together a seasoned jury who will thoroughly screen all entries.
V8 Investment, organiser of the maiden edition, has pledged to release some very popular names on the board later.
Applications from some business entities who want to sponsor the event have started pouring in, BEATWAVES has learnt.
